Professional lighting applications

Application evidence

Bridgelux sources across demanding lighting environments

Source selection changes with viewing task, mounting height, ambient temperature, service access and optical intent. Application criteria come before package preference.

Five environments, five different performance questions

Office

Linear and recessed systems balance task illuminance, screen reflections and UGR. High efficacy helps energy targets, but aggressive optics can reduce visual comfort.

Review
4000 K, Ra 80/90, low-glare distribution, 0-10V or DALI-2

Retail

Accent and ambient layers need beam control and color fidelity. TM-30 data gives additional color-rendering context beyond a single CRI value.

Review
3000–4000 K, Ra 90+, beam consistency, lumen maintenance

Healthcare

Clinical, patient and circulation areas carry different visual tasks. Source choice must be evaluated within the complete luminaire and local requirements.

Review
Color consistency, flicker behavior, serviceability, cleanability

Industrial

High mounting and extended operating hours make thermal management, maintained output and driver surge protection central to total system performance.

Review
12,000 lm class, IP65 fixture target, L70 basis, 10 kV system option

Outdoor

Area and facade lighting require controlled candela distribution. BUG rating, shielding and installation geometry can matter more than raw source efficacy.

Retail track luminaire optical evaluation
Scenario 01

Retail contrast without uncontrolled glare

Background: A high-ceiling sales floor requires focused vertical illumination and stable color appearance. Process: The project team compares beam angles, center-beam candela, TM-30 information and thermal operating points in prototype luminaires. Result criterion: The accepted arrangement must meet the modeled vertical illuminance and visual-comfort review; no outcome is claimed until field aiming and measurement are complete.

Warehouse high bay validation
Scenario 02

Warehouse output under sustained temperature

Background: Long operating hours and elevated ceiling temperatures challenge lumen maintenance. Process: The luminaire is evaluated at the intended drive current, heat-sink configuration and ambient range before comparing LM-79 performance and the LM-80/TM-21 basis. Result criterion: Procurement records the tested system conditions, recognizing that component projections are not a finished-luminaire lifetime guarantee.
